Agroecology
The industrialization of agriculture took place with the Green Revolution, after World War II. It emerged as a response to a dramatic global situation, looking for ways to feed many people in a short period of time and aimed at obtaining maximum production in minimum time, using synthetic chemicals products and intensive monoculture fields. Countries were recovering economically and socially, however industrial agriculture continued to be practiced and exerted strong pressure on natural resources. Now the aim was only to increase economic income. A growing awareness about the impact of industrial agriculture on the environment encouraged the combination of agronomy and ecology for a more sustainable agriculture - brought together agronomy and ecology for the pursuit of a more sustainable agriculture.
